North Node in Your Chart: Past Life Patterns vs Future Purpose Guide

Your birth chart contains a cosmic compass pointing toward your soul's evolution. The North Node and South Node (together called the nodal axis) reveal the journey your soul undertook in past lives and the path you're meant to walk in this one.

Unlike planets that represent personality drives, the nodes represent karmic direction — where you've been and where you're going.

Understanding the Nodal Axis

The Cosmic Mechanics

The lunar nodes aren't planets — they're mathematical points where the Moon's orbit crosses the Sun's apparent path (the ecliptic). They always travel in exact opposition:

• South Node (☋): Your past life patterns, comfort zone, natural talents
• North Node (☊): Your future purpose, growth challenges, destiny direction

Think of it as a seesaw: The more you lean toward your North Node, the less you need your South Node patterns.

The Karmic Story

Your nodal axis tells a story of soul evolution:

• South Node: "I've already mastered this"
• North Node: "I'm here to develop this"

The challenge? The South Node feels comfortable but leads to stagnation. The North Node feels uncomfortable but leads to growth.
