Fixed Modality in Astrology

Fixed is one of three modalities in astrology, shared by Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. Fixed signs are the sustainers — they hold, maintain, and deepen what cardinal signs initiate. Fixed energy is stable, determined, loyal, and resistant to change.

Fixed signs occupy the middle of each season — the peak expression of their element's energy. Taurus embodies earth's deepest stability; Leo radiates fire at its most sustained; Scorpio plumbs water's deepest depths; Aquarius holds air's most principled independence. The Fixed Grand Cross (T-square between fixed signs) is famously intense — immovable forces meeting immovable forces.
