Preguntas frecuentes
The most popular in modern Western astrology is Placidus. Ancient and Hellenistic astrology favors Whole Sign. There's no single 'correct' answer — try both and see which resonates. For high-latitude births, Whole Sign avoids the distortions Placidus can produce.
In Placidus, the Ascendant degree is the 1st house cusp, with mathematically calculated cusps for each subsequent house. In Whole Sign, the entire sign containing the Ascendant is the 1st house, regardless of degree — every house is one complete 30° sign.
Significantly for some charts, minimally for others. When planets are near house cusps, they may fall in a different house depending on the system used. The planets, signs, and aspects are the same regardless of house system — only house placements change.
Many traditional astrologers prefer Whole Sign for annual profections and timing techniques; many modern astrologers prefer Placidus for psychological interpretation. Some use both — Placidus for psychological work, Whole Sign for timing.
