Descendant

Descendant in Astrology

The Descendant (DC) is the zodiac degree on the western horizon at your birth — the point exactly opposite your Ascendant — and it marks the cusp of the 7th house. Together, the Ascendant and Descendant form the horizon axis of the chart, dividing the personal self (Ascendant side) from the other-oriented self (Descendant side).

The Ascendant-Descendant Axis

The Ascendant describes who you are and how you appear; the Descendant describes who you attract and seek in close partnerships. They are always opposite signs:

  • Aries Ascendant → Libra Descendant
  • Scorpio Ascendant → Taurus Descendant
  • Aquarius Ascendant → Leo Descendant
